FAQs
It is important to ask the right questions when hiring a designer. Listed below are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive:
How much will a logo cost?
Cost is always an important consideration, but unfortunately, this is a question that needs more details before it can be answered. All our estimates are tailored to your specific requirements. Our prices vary due to a large number of factors. Once we get a grasp of your company’s needs, we’ll be able to provide you with a custom tailored quote for a logo, identity campaign, or more.
What is included in your cost?
Since many of our projects are long-term campaigns with many pieces, we typically charge on an hourly basis. You are purchasing our experience and expertise. Unlike many design companies, we believe that the work we do for your company is yours to do with as you please. We do not charge extra to “release the rights” to you if you choose to take a project in-house or even to another designer. However, we may need to charge for the time it takes to compile the files since some projects can be complex.
How long will it take to finish the project?
Every job is different but we will look at your schedule and work backward from your delivery date to create a timeline of deliverables. We work pretty fast and will do whatever we can to accommodate your timeline, no matter how tight.
Can you start right away?
Yes. We take care of our clients by making sure we never have too much on our plate at once. So, unless we are on vacation at a beach in Barbados, we can get started today.
What exactly do I receive when you send initial design ideas?
We will normally send you a PDF file with a few sample ideas. If you have a logo project, we typically present three to five options in black and white. We prefer to show initial logo ideas in black and white because we don’t want you to get hung up on a color and rule out a good design simply because you don’t like the color.
What filetypes do you provide?
We provide finished logos in EPS and PNG formats which is typically all you will need. These files can be scaled to any size without any loss in quality. PNG files can be used in Microsoft office applications and will retain the transparent quality so there won’t be the dreaded “white box” surrounding your logo. Of course, if you need a different format, just ask. We use Adobe InDesign for page layout projects, and will provide the source files (including the images and fonts for printing) as well as a print-ready PDF.
You’re located outside of Washington, DC which is far from us. Is that going to be an issue?
We have quite a few clients who we have never met face-to-face and it has not been a problem. Like you, we are “always-on” and available by phone, email, and IM.
Do you work with local printers?
Absolutely. We have extensive experience dealing with local commercial printers, and we’re more than happy to offer advice on which printer would be a good fit for your project. Even though we work directly with the printer, we prefer that our clients pay the printers. This saves you the industry-standard 10-20% markup that many design firms charge their clients.
If you have any other burning questions, we won’t bite, just ask.
